Botulinum toxin = Botox

Updated: Apr 13, 2022

What you need to know.

People have many questions when it comes to Botox before they try it. Is it safe for to inject into my body? How long does it last? Will it get rid of my wrinkles? Will it make my face sag? How long will it last? Do I have to do it forever?

Disclaimer *Although I am not a Dr , the information i am providing is educational and informational in nature. Please consult a medical Physician if ou have concerns with the use of Botox.

This is one of the most popular aesthetic procedures today. And sometimes it can be a very intence subject with many people. Should you or shouldn't you? Botox may not completely remove wrinkles but it will decrease or stop the muscles in your face from causing more permanent ones. FDA approved from 2002, there are many benefits to botox injections.

There are many pressures today for a woman to have flawless skin, free of acne, blemishes or wrinkles. Although i believe all women are beautiful, despite fine lines and aging skin. My personal reasons for botox is to grow old gracefully, I add it to my Healthy lifestyle and skin care regimen.

Botox has many uses other then wrinkles: treating excessive sweating, reducing pain from migraines, relieving jaw stress/pain. But what is Botox? Its a Neurotoxin that is used to temporarily "freeze" face/neck muscles. Its formal name is Botulium toxin (or Onobotulinumtoxin A) Other names you may have heard are Disport, Xeomin, and Jeuveau. these are just the brand names of what are very similar products.

FACTS:

  • Botox is temporary. 3-6 months, varies from person to person. Depending on how fast your body metabolizes the neurotoxin. Typically its more like 3-4 months for maintenance to start.

  • Botox does not give instant results. Again everyone is different but usually 7-14 days for full effects. I personally get results in 8 days.

  • How much Botox you need is also individual. Can't compare to you friend down the street. Trust your injector, to assess, and provide the appropriate amount to get the results you want. If its your first time expect larger amounts, although I tend to try to go light, in 2 weeks if its not enough, more can be injected. (But you can't take it away if we have over done it.) Yes there is such a thing as too much botox.

  • If you decide you don't like it you not stuck with it. It will wear off in approximately 6 months. Will it make your wrinkles worse...NO. Once the Botox wears off you will see and feel more movement back into the areas injected.

Should you get Botox?

Getting Botox injections is a very personnal choice. You should never feel pressured to get any TREATMENT done. Always have a consult with an informed medical professional and research before making this decision. And if you decide to take the plunge, give us a call at Ageless Beauty by Sue.
